For side sleepers, a thicker, firmer pillow would be the most likely candidate to enhance your evening slumber. A softer pillow, for a side sleeper, would cause the head to slump and put strain on the neck.
A pillows thickness is also something to keep in mind, you should choose thickness based on the position you sleep in. If you sleep mostly on your side you will want a thicker pillow to get the neck support you need. If you sleep on your back than a thin pillow would be your best choice, a thin pillow will give you enough neck support but won't cause neck strain. A feather pillow can also be made flat so would also be a good choice if you sleep on your back.
