Natural latex and memory foam memory. Foam is a specialized polyurethane foam which was developed in the 1960s, the chemistry of making it is complex. It is formed by reacting a poly in the presence of a catalyst. On the other hand, natural latex, like ours, is made from the sap of a rubber tree. It is commonly referred to like a hundred percent natural, while both are foams.
They have totally different fields, we're going to take a look at the differences by doing a few demonstrations. The first demonstration is responsiveness, we'll place a weight on each piece and we're going to test the recovery rates of both materials. Once the weight is taken off, the latex returns to its original shape instantly, while memory foam has a longer recovery time. The next demonstration is supported. When we place a weight on the memory foam, it has a low resilience and easily adjusts to the body's contours.
The weight is totally enveloped by the memory foam, whereas when we place the weight on the latex, it conforms to the weight, but pushes it back up when we drop a weight on the phones. You'll see the memory foam, absorbs the impact but offers little support. But when we drop the weight on the latex, the natural resiliency of latex springs back, offering more support. Now, with motion transfer, you'll see with our glass of water test, both a very good at dampening motion. When you place the glass on memory foam, the water doesn't tip over just like latex. Our last demonstration is edge support when we place the weight on the edge of the latex you'll see it doesn't roll off, allowing you to sleep closer to the edge when we place the same weight on the memory foam.
